We’ve had a wonderful start to May, filled with creativity, community, and a lot of willow! From weaving owls beneath the trees to meeting so many of you curious about the craft, the month is already shaping up to be something special.
Toby’s Garden Festival at Powderham Castle
What a magical few days we had at Powderham Castle! Nestled under shady willow trees, we spent the weekend weaving owls and welcoming visitors into the world of sustainable sculpture. It was a true celebration of gardening, craft, and the power of nature to bring people together. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by, joined in, or chatted with us about our workshops. You can read more about the festival here.
Mells Fête
Next up was the wonderful Mells Fête – always a highlight of the spring. It was a joy to meet so many new faces and hear your enthusiasm for willow weaving. We had some great conversations about private workshops too, and we’re excited to bring more bespoke sessions to villages and venues across the region. Discover more about Mells here.
Thinking About Hosting a Workshop?
If you’ve got a venue (a village hall, garden, or barn) and a group of 7 or more people, we’d love to come to you. Private workshops start at £80 per person and include all materials, plus a good dose of willow magic. Just get in touch to start planning a bespoke experience.
New Workshop Venues on the Calendar
We’re always looking to bring willow weaving to new places, and we’re thrilled to announce two new venues:
Bath – The Art Pad Our first workshop here will be Deer on 24th June.
St Ives – Community Orchard Join us for Leaping Hares on 3rd August.

Behind the Scenes
While the workshops are in full swing, Jo’s also been busy in the studio with some exciting commissions. She’s currently creating two 6ft willow tigers – yes, really! – as well as an entire farmyard of sculptures for Over-Amstel, the sister estate to The Newt in Somerset. We can’t wait to share more as these wild builds take shape.
