Cheddar's Sheep
With deep roots in community and creativity, Jo Sadler lovingly restored the iconic willow sheep on the banks of the Cheddar River Yeo. Originally created by artist Sophie Courtier and the local community for the 2017 Cheddar Arts Fringe Festival, these Soay sheep sculptures celebrate the ancient breed found in nearby Cheddar Gorge. Weathered by time, Jo brought them back to life with Somerset-grown willow donated by Musgrove Willows, carefully weaving each figure onto its original frame.

The Newt in Somerset
Nestled in the heart of Somerset, The Newt is a place where nature, heritage, and art come together—a perfect setting for Jo Sadler’s willow sculptures. Commissioned to celebrate the beauty of British livestock, Jo created a British White cattle and a flock of ten sheep, each handwoven with intricate detail.
Crafted from sustainably sourced Musgrove Willows, these sculptures capture the movement and character of the animals and blend seamlessly into the estate’s rolling landscape. Whether standing proudly in the fields or nestled among the gardens, they invite visitors to experience the charm of traditional countryside life through the timeless art of willow weaving.
